Everyone’s favorite reimagined, this pizza-inspired toast layers creamy cannellini beans, rich ricotta, and golden sourdough for a dish that is both comforting and nourishing.

How to Pick Whole Peeled Tomatoes:

Any brand of whole tomatoes works although ones made from San Marzano tomatoes will have the best flavor

Not a fan of basil? Garnish with chopped parsley or even grated parmesan cheese.

Ingredients Needed

Ricotta spread

Instructions

  1. Pour the whole peeled tomatoes into a large bowl and use hands to crush the tomatoes. Remove any hard pieces like the stem and core. 
  2. Season tomato sauce with Italian seasoning, dried oregano, garlic and if using, the pepperoni. Stir to combine. 
  3. Place crisper plate into the air fryer basket. 
  4. Lightly brush both sides of the toast with olive oil. 
  5. Place toast onto crisper plate. 
  6. Select Air Fry function, adjust temperature to 450°F, and set time to 7 minutes then press Start/Pause. 
  7. Flip halfway through cooking. 
  8. Remove when done and repeat with the other slices of bread. 
  9. Carefully remove the crisper plate with a dry kitchen towel. 
  10. Add the crushed tomatoes into the basket. 
  11. Select Roast function and adjust time to 20 minutes then press Start/Pause. 
  12. Stir the tomato sauce halfway through cooking. 
  13. Add in the cannellini beans during the last 5 minutes of cook time left and stir well. 
  14. Remove when done and set aside. 
  15. Stir together the ingredients for the ricotta spread until well combined. 
  16. Spread about 2 tablespoons of the ricotta spread onto the toast and top with ¼ cup of the bean mixture. Garnish with julienned basil.

Chef Notes: If you prefer more protein, topping it off with a fried egg would be great or serving it with chicken sausages.

Iconic Time/Temp: Air Fry 425°F for 7 minutes, Air Fry 400°F for 20 minutes.
