Unlike many fast-food chicken sandwiches, this made-from-scratch air fried chicken burger uses whole ingredients with less preservatives and sodium. Since air-frying shortens cooking time, it may help preserve more nutrients too! Plus, the natural spices and lower salt content make it a more wholesome alternative that may reduce inflammation and help manage blood pressure.

Instructions

MAKE THE PATTIES: 

  1. Add the ingredients for the chicken patty into the food processor and pulse until a paste forms. 
  2. Remove the ground chicken from the food processor and divide mixture into 5 patties. Shape and form them to be slightly larger than your burger buns. 
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 
  4. Whisk together the egg, water and hot sauce in a separate bowl.  
  5. Add the cornflake crumbs into another bowl. 
  6. Dredge each patty into the egg mixture, then coat with the cornflake crumbs.
  7. Place patties onto a plate and set in the freezer.

COOK THE PATTIES: 

  1. Place the crisper plate into the air fryer basket. 
  2. Select the Preheat function, adjust temperature to 420°F, then tap Start/Pause. 
  3. Coat the preheated crisper plate with oil spray. 
  4. Place patties carefully onto the preheated crisper plate and coat with oil spray.
  5. Select the Air Fry function, adjust temperature to 420°F and time to 8 minutes, then tap Start/Pause. 
  6. Flip halfway through cooking and coat with oil spray.
  7. Remove the basket when done and let rest for 5 minutes.

ASSEMBLE: 

  1. Assemble by spreading 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise on the top and bottom buns, place a patty on the bottom half. Top with lettuce and the top bun, then serve.
