How to Pick Rice

To pick the best black rice (forbidden rice) at the grocery store, select packages with deep, jet-black, uniform grains, avoiding those with excessive broken pieces or white dust. Look for "black rice" or "forbidden rice" in the rice aisle, natural foods section, or Asian supermarkets,, often sold as whole-grain short or medium-grain varieties. To pick high-quality glutinous rice, look for packages labeled "sticky rice," "sweet rice," or "gạo nếp," ensuring the grains are uniformly opaque white, not translucent.
