Yield 4 Serving

Instructions

PREPPING THE CHEESEBURGERS:

  1. Spray skillet with oil spray and add the frozen diced onions. Cook over low heat, stirring often until caramelized. Set aside.
  2. Divide ground beef into 4 portions. Roll each into a ball and flatten so the patties are slightly larger than the buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper, then brush the tops with yellow mustard.
  3. Mix all the ingredients for the burger sauce in a bowl. Set aside.

COOKING THE CHEESEBURGERS:

  1. Remove the crisper plate from the air fryer basket.
  2. Select the Preheat function, adjust temperature to 450°F, then tap Start/Pause.
  3. Coat the preheated basket with oil spray and place 2 patties into the basket.
  4. Select the Air Fry function, adjust temperature to 450°F, then tap Start/Pause.
  5. Flip the patties after 4 minutes of cooking.
  6. Remove the basket when done and top each patty with cheese and 1 tablespoon of caramelized onion.
  7. Remove the patties and set aside, then repeat the cooking process with the rest of the patties.
  8. Assemble by spreading the burger sauce on the bottom bun, then layer with sliced dill pickles, tomatoes patty, and lettuce. Top with the top bun, then serve.

Chef Tips for Beginners:

  • To save yourself from using another pan to toast the buns, you can toast the buns in the air fryer. Place buns cut side up, select the Broil function, then adjust the time to 4 minutes.
  • If you prefer the cheese to be melted down a bit more, add the caramelized onions and cheese with 1 minute left of cook time.
  • There is a reason why the patties are flattened out to be larger than the buns. Shrinkage happens once the patties have been cooked, therefore will shrink to the proper size for the buns.
  • You can use storebought pre-shaped patties if it is convenient.
