Looking for a quick and exciting twist on a classic favorite? These Air Fryer Hot Dogs with spicy kimchi slaw are a game-changer! Perfectly crisped in the air fryer, these hot dogs are taken to the next level with a vibrant and tangy kimchi carrot slaw. The fusion of spicy, crunchy kimchi, fresh carrot, cilantro, red onion,and lime adds a burst of flavor and a delightful crunch that complements the savory hot dogs perfectly. The sriracha mayo adds another element of flavor that rounds it all out. Ideal for a fast and fun meal, this recipe brings together convenience and gourmet flair in every bite. 

Ingredient Swaps

Hot Dog: You can swap the all-beef hot dogs with a plant-based beef hot dog or turkey hot dog.

Buns: You can swap the hot dog buns with your favorite gluten-free hot dog buns.

Sriracha Mayo: If serving kids, feel free to replace the sriracha mayo with ketchup and leave out the kimchi slaw.

Snap, flavor, and size are the key ingredients to the perfect frankfurter. Look for hot dogs with casings that add extra texture. It might be tempting to go for hots dogs that are loaded with extra spices and flavors, but make sure they addto the overall taste without taking away from the meaty flavor.

Instructions

PREPPING THE HOT DOG

  1. Combine all the kimchi slaw ingredients in a medium bowl and toss to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Set aside. 
  2. Stir together the mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice in a small bowl and taste and adjust spice level as desired. Pour sauce into a squeeze bottle, then set aside.  
  3. Place the crisper plate into the COSORI Air Fryer basket. 
  4. Select the Preheat function, then press Start/Pause. 
  5. Cut 5 slits into each hot dog (just slightly into the top, not all the way down). Place hot dogs onto the preheated crisper plate. 

COOKING THE HOT DOG

  1. Select the Air Fry function, adjust temperature to 400F and time to 5 minutes, then press Start/Pause. 
  2. Remove the basket when 1-minute remains, place the hot dogs into the buns, then close the basket to finish cooking. 
  3. Remove the hot dogs when done, then top with kimchi slaw and drizzle the top with sriracha mayo, then serve. 

Cutting slits in the hot dogs before air frying adds more crispy textures to the overall hot dog. If you’re not a fan of that, just leave the hot dog plain. The kimchi carrot slaw adds a surprising and refreshing kick of spice, freshness, and probiotics that really brightens up regular hot dogs. If you’re not a fan of kimchi you can replace it with sauerkraut, which will still provide probiotics and a fermented flavor. Look for high quality kimchi at your local Asian supermarket, as it will make a difference in the overall flavor.
