Wild Alaskan Salmon Jerky Treats

1 pound wild Alaskan salmon, skin and pin bones removed
+
Spices or herbs safe for dogs (basil, ginger, parsley, turmeric), optional
+
½ cup water
+
½ cup applesauce
+
1 tablespoon honey
+
2½ cups whole wheat flour or oat flour
+
60 blueberries

Round cookie cutter (1-inch diameter)

Directions
STEP 1
Slice the salmon into ¼-inch-thick pieces.
STEP 2
Place the salmon evenly between the COSORI Food Dehydrator trays. Sprinkle with dried spices or herbs if using.
STEP 3
Set temperature to 145°F and time to 4 hours, then press Start/Stop.
STEP 4
Remove when done, cool to room temperature on the trays, then serve to your pet.
STEP 5
Set temperature to 135°F and time to 6 hours, then press Start/Stop.
STEP 6
Remove when done, cool to room temperature on the trays, then serve to your pet.
STEP 7
Set temperature to 160°F and time to 4 hours, then press Start/Stop.
STEP 8
Remove the treats when done and dried but not crispy. Cool completely, then serve to your pet.
STEP 9
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
STEP 14
Remove the empanadas when done and brush again lightly with the egg wash for shine while they are still very hot, then serve with the chimichurri on the side.
