Step 1
Whisk the milk, 2 tablespoons flour, and ¼ cup water in a small saucepan until smooth. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until a stiff paste forms and resembles the consistency of mashed potatoes, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and scrape into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook. -
Step 2
Add the sour cream, sugar, salt, 2 tablespoons butter (cubed), 2 ½ cups flour, yeast, and egg. Mix on low speed until a shaggy dough forms, then increase speed to medium and mix until the dough is smooth, about 8-10 minutes. -
Step 3
Remove crisper plate from the COSORI air fryer basket. -
Step 4
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl that fits inside the air fryer basket and cover with plastic wrap. -
Step 5
Select the Proof function, then tap Start/Pause. -
Step 6
Remove the proofed dough onto a clean work surface and pat into a rough square. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Form each piece into a tight ball. -
Step 7
Grease the air fryer basket bottom and sides with 1 tablespoon butter, then place the rolls into the air fryer basket. Cover the rolls with plastic wrap, then allow to rise at room temperature for 45 minutes, or until nearly doubled in size.
