How To Pick Basil

To harvest fresh basil for a continuous, bushy, and productive plant, cut or pinch the stem just above a pair of leaves (a node) rather than picking single leaves. Start harvesting once the plant is 6–8 inches tall to promote new side shoots, encouraging more bushy growth.

    Let's cook

    1. Place the basil evenly between food dehydrator trays, ensuring they don’t overlap. 
    2. Set temperature to 110°F and time to 20 hours, then tap Start/Stop. 
    3. Remove the basil when the leaves are dried and brittle. Allow the basil to cool to room temperature. 
    4. Blend or crush the dried basil leaves to your desired consistency. Store in airtight containers.
