Treat yourself with sourdough bread dipped in a whisked vanilla-cinnamon-egg mixture and air fried to golden perfection. As the French say, bon appétit!

This delicious French toast recipe is lower in total carbs compared to traditional ones and sweetened with only a touch of maple syrup. If you combine this with other high protein breakfast foods, like eggs or Greek yogurt, it can help control satiety and keep your blood sugar regulated throughout the day!

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.  
  2. Place the crisper plate into the air fryer basket.  
  3. Select the Air Fryer function at 385°F, adjust time to 4 minutes, then tap Start/Pause to preheat. 
  4. Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture for 10 to 15 seconds, then carefully place onto the preheated crisper plate. Spray the bread slices lightly with avocado oil spray. 
  5. Select the Air Fry function, adjust temperature to 385°F and time to 8 minutes, tap Shake, then tap Start/Pause.  
  6. Flip the French toast halfway through cooking. The Shake Function will let you know when. 
  7. Remove French toast when golden brown, then serve with fresh berries and more maple syrup if desired.
