Tools Needed

Ingredients Needed

Scale 1x 2x 3x
Yield 90 Serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon slices in a frying pan until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Transfer the cooked bacon slices to a plate to cool to room temperature, then finely chop.
  3. Measure 2 tablespoons of bacon fat to use for the dough. If you don’t have enough fat for 2 tablespoons, use melted coconut oil.
  4. Place the oat flour, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl and stir until combined. Add the molasses, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, egg yolk, reserved bacon fat, and finely chopped bacon. Mix until well combined, and it forms a smooth dough.
  5. Roll dough out to ¼-inch thickness, then cut into 1-inch sized dog treats using a cutter of your choice. Use oat flour while rolling as needed to prevent the dough from sticking.
  6. Place the treats evenly between the food dehydrator trays, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  7. Set temperature to 145°F and time to 5 hours, then tap Start/Stop.
  8. Remove the treats when firm but still slightly chewy.
  9. Cool to room temperature on the trays, then serve.

Chef Notes: If you don’t have oat flour, simply grind rolled oats in a food processor until finely ground. Store leftover treats in a sealed airtight container or bag.
