Savory, sweet, crispy and oh so delicious! Inspired by the Vietnamese fish sauce wings, this wing recipe will have you tossing buffalo sauce out the window. Try this recipe for your next game day or even just as a meal, you’ll be the MVP for making these wings.

Make sure you read the ingredients and ensure that the fish sauce isn’t made of other ingredients besides anchovy.

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings completely dry with a paper towel then place into a bowl. 
  2. Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper. 
  3. Insert the crisper plate into the air fryer basket. 
  4. Select Air Fry function and adjust the temperature to 390°F for 8 minutes. 
  5. Coat the crisper plate with oil spray. 
  6. Place the wings onto the preheated crisper plate and lightly coat with oil spray. You may need to do this in batches. 
  7. Select Air Fry function, set temperature to 390°F and time to 18 minutes then press Start/Pause
  8. Flip the wings halfway through cooking. 
  9. Heat the small saucepan on medium heat then add in the oil, garlic and shallots. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until shallots have softened. 
  10. Add sugar, water, and fish sauce. Stir and cook until mixture slightly thickens then add in the sriracha. Stir to combine. 
  11. Remove the wings when done then add into a large bowl. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of sauce over the wings then toss to coat. 
  12. Serve immediately with remaining sauce if desired. 

Chef Notes: You can completely remove the sriracha or sambal paste from the recipe if you prefer it mild.
